Reimagining and Restructuring: Exploring opportunities for innovation in Jesuit Youth Ministry (SZ-WZ JYMSA)
Reimagining and Restructuring Youth Apostolate of Society of Jesus in South Zone (SZ) and West Zone (WZ) of South Asia Conference was held on 05-06 October 2024 at Prerana, Bengaluru. Twenty-eight participants from 8 Jesuit Provinces of SZ and WZ along with JCSA Youth Coordinator Fr. Vernard Antony SJ, actively participated in this important deliberation. Fr. Dionysius Gerard Vaz SJ, the Provincial of Karnataka Province, celebrated the Holy Eucharist on the second day and presented his keynote address to the SZ-WZ JYMSA Coordinators, Youth leaders and Youth animators. In his keynote address he spoke on the importance of youth ministry and the need to reimagine it in today’s world.
Fr. Brian Pereira SJ (KAR) was the resource person guiding in this process of `Reimagining and Restructuring Youth Apostolate in SA Conference.’ Key discussions focused on understanding the challenges faced by young people, analyzing the specific contexts of the South and West Zones and exploring opportunities for innovation. Participants reviewed successful initiatives from the past 5 to 10 years and highlighted the value of collaboration between provinces to share resources and ideas. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to designing impact, context-specific youth programs, with a strong focus on inter-province co-operation. This gathering marked an important step in re-imagining Jesuit youth ministry for future growth and innovation.
