SSC Juniors, Sitagara stage a thrilling one act play, “God on trial”

The Juniors of St. Stanislaus College, Sitagarha, staged a beautifully scripted, rehearsed and orchestrated one-act play entitled, “God on trial” on November 13, 2024, in honour of St. Stanislaus Kotka, the patron of the novices and the titular feast of the community. This provided a wonderful opportunity for the Juniors to showcase their talents, public speaking prowess, social skills, communication skills, a great team work, the value of being friends in the Lord and the art of creative imagination. This they did it with proficiency, efficiency and style. The production and direction team of the staff played a crucial role in nurturing and promoting hidden talents of all Juniors, guiding them with unwavering support and encouragement to deliver a performance that was memorable, unforgettable, vivacious, vibrant and magnificent.

For us, the Juniors, the outcome wasn’t important but the process. We enjoyed every moment of the process. The whole exercise was like a curriculum, a syllabus and a workshop. There were ample opportunities for learning as we understood what the play was all about, learning our lines, rehearsing public speaking skills, communication skills, delivery of dialogue and above all pronunciation and accent; they were all part of our learning process and that’s precisely we enjoyed most. The juniors were up for the challenge, learning by heart the script, seeing the directors on a regular basis for dialogue delivery and phonetics; everyone was focused and determined to give his best shot. Another area that taught us great lessons was the spirit of team work and coordination; each member working seamlessly to achieve a shared common vision of the direction and production team.Everyone put their best foot forward, fully immersed in the characters were portraying and delivering an authentic, fervent and a heartfelt performance.

At first, it was challenging for us to keep up with the timeline but we were kept on the track. We received invaluable insights guidance from our professors learning lines, dialogue delivery, pronunciation, accent, acting, expressions of emotions, body language and improvisation. They were alwaysthere for us, offering their support, words of encouragement, keeping us away from all negative talks and thoughts. Above all, they kept us motivated, focused, humble, grateful for the opportunity and our feet firmly rooted on the ground.

As Juniors we gained many important lessons for life from this inspiring play including self-confidence, the arts of leadership, work ethics, work culture, networking, coordinating and teamwork. We also learned the value of time management, communication skills, public speaking, and the ability to build resilience and tenacity in the face of challenges. This play not only uncovered hidden talents but also nurtured them interiorly and exteriorly.
