Leaders of Ignatian young adult ministry from around the world gathered in Rome from January 6–10, 2026, for a preparatory meeting ahead of MAGIS 2027, the global Ignatian gathering to be held in South Korea. Designed as a strategic “think-in,” the meeting brought together coordinators from the six Jesuit Conferences, representatives of Ignatian women’s congregations, digital ministry teams, and leaders from Jesuit networks, alongside members of the General Curia, including Superior General Arturo Sosa, SJ.
Discussions focused on accompanying young adults in today’s complex global context, with particular attention to spiritual formation, vocational discernment, digital outreach, and global collaboration. Participants reflected on challenges such as conflict, inequality, secularisation, mental health concerns, and the impact of digital culture, while reaffirming MAGIS as a “universal” movement rooted in Ignatian spirituality rather than a uniform model. The meeting strengthened global networks and laid foundations for an integrated Ignatian approach to young adult ministry, as preparations continue for MAGIS 2027 in South Korea, themed “Living Hope, Igniting Peace.” Fr. Vernard Antony, JCSA Youth Coordinator was part of this MAGIS 2027 Korea Preparation Meeting.
