Organized by Fr Sebastian Jeerakassery, Jesuit General Treasurer, the first-ever in person meeting of the Jesuit Conference Development Directors (CDD) held in Rome, June 3-5, 2026, gave us an opportunity to share the accomplishments and challenges faced while advancing the global Jesuit mission. Fr Arturo Sosa, Superior General, addressing the delegates, traced the progress of the development offices since 2007 seeking a model of sustainability with a strong base of local support, for the life-mission of the Society in diverse geopolitical context.

He exhorted us to develop solidarity among apostolic works more systematically than we do at present and encouraged inter-conference collaboration in sharing resources and expertise regarding fundraising. The delegates and the officials of the curia reviewed the roles of the CDDs and province development directors (PDD) and worked out tentative parameters for their assessment. These will be discussed with the PDDs and finalized at the conference level.
