Ignatian Leadership, Evangelization and Synodality
Forty West Zone (Bombay, Goa, Gujarat and Pune) Jesuit pastors gathered for a seminar on the theme ‘Ignatian Leadership, Evangelization and Synodality’, from January 15 to 17, 2024, at St. Xavier Retreat House, Baga, Goa. Fr. Roland Coelho, Provincial of Goa Province, in his homily at the holy Eucharist on the first day, urged us to be obedient to God, open to God’s voice through the poor, neglected and little ones in the parish, and to be the change we want to see in people’s lives.
Fr. Vincent Saldhana (GUJ), our resource person, through the sessions, prayerful reflections and spiritual conversations rekindled our visionary and missionary spirit. The key take-away of our gathering, as Jesuit pastors, is our call to incarnate in daily life the Universal Apostolic Preferences, to promote the art of spiritual conversation in the parish and to journey together to evangelize the world. It was a deep experience of consolation, peace, unity, the joy of being called and the assurance that God is with us. During the gathering, we shared our pastoral experiences of building bridges and journeying together.
