Jesuit Youth Ministry of South Asia ( JYMSA) – Annual Meeting 2024

The Jesuit Youth Ministry of South Asia (JYMSA) Annual Meeting 2024 was held on 02-05 May 2024 at Godavari, Kathmandu, Nepal. There were 15 Jesuit Youth Coordinators of the South Asia Assistancy participated in it. The annual meeting began with the holy Eucharist by Fr Amrit Rai SJ, Reginal Superior of Nepal Region. He invited us to reflect on the spirit of Jesus spread among the youth today. Then Fr Vijay SJ shared about the history of Nepal Catholic Church and Nepal Youth ministry. His sharing inspired us to go deep into the roots of our early Jesuit and imbibe their pioneering spirit. Miss Titi Ghale (Youth from IMCS, Nepal) enthralled us with her personal and experiential sharing on ‘Youth Addiction to drugs and alcohol.’

Fr Stany D’Souza SJ, President, JCSA, celebrated the holy Eucharist on 5^th May, who motivated the JYMSA Coordinators to reach out the unreached unorganized youth with more focus and vigor. As the Conference is undergoing the process of reimagining and restructuring he invited the Youth Coordinators to actively participate in this process with more focus on zonal level coordination. He also encouraged us to listen and walk with youth so that they bring out their potential in life. Finally, there was a Zonal and National level action plans for the forthcoming discussed in zonal groups. The JYMSA has taken up ‘Anti-Addiction Program’ (APP) as a focused area for the year 2024-2025. The activities will be focused on this particular theme in all our youth activities.

JYMSA is extremely grateful to the Nepal Region Jesuits for the wonderful and unimaginable generosity and love showered through their hospitality. Special thanks to Fr Amrit Rai SJ, Regional Superior, Superior of Godavari Ashram community, Jesuit Communities in Kathmandu and Fr Tej Kalyan SJ the local organizer for their magnanimity in hosting this meeting. Sincere gratitude to the outgoing JYMSA secretary Fr Arbind Beck SJ (HAZ) and special appreciations to the newly appointed JYMSA secretary Fr Vernard SJ (DUM) for their systematic organization and strenuous efforts.
