Transitioning into a University – Envisioning the NEP 2020

Jesuit Higher Education Association of South Asia (JHEASA) West Zone oganized a conference on January 20, 2024, titled “Transitioning into a University: Envisioning NEP 2020” at the Xavier Institute of Communication, Mumbai.

Fr. Frazer Mascarenhas explored the topic of maximizing the Jesuit Vision through University formation, emphasizing the potential for greater contribution and improved education quality. Fr. Keith D’Souza discussed the pros and cons of various University types: private, cluster, deemed-to-be and skill universities, with a focus on a deemed-to-be University.

Dr. Hemlata Bagla (VC of Hyderabad Sind National Collegiate University) discussed the challenges and programs of a cluster University, serving as a model for other institutions. Adv. Marylou and Mr. Herman emphasized the need for a Jesuit Law College to instil Jesuit values in future lawyers. Mr. Nitin Pujar addressed institutional readiness for University formation and the internal factors required for strengthening collaboration among institutions.
